Information about memory disordersDementia is perhaps best described as the loss of intellectual abilities. It manifests itself in the decline of cognotive functions such as reasoning and memory.Suffers may become confused, unable to remember simple things and gradually loose the activities of daily living they once had to help themselves through the day. Perhaps understandably, they can become quite agitated and not recognise even the closest of family and friends. In it's early stages, the responsibility for looking after sufferers of dementia, often falls on loved ones and close relatives. Dimentia is largely associated with the older generation, but is not a result of the consequences of aging.
